Turning Points: One big hit swings momentum in Browns' loss to Lions

Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns

After getting off to a strong start and taking a 10-0 lead today in Detroit, the Browns fell apart with a bad play call at the end of the first half, an injury to quarterback DeShone Kizer and some ugly coverage in their secondary.

The second-year veteran last played on October 22, replacing Kizer early in the third quarter of Cleveland's 12-9 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Kizer's 1-yard plunge completed an 80-yard drive and gave the Browns the lead later in the quarter.

The Browns were out of timeouts, however, and after tight end David Njoku could not get two feet down on a potential touchdown pass from quarterback DeShone Kizer, the Browns had a second-and-goal with 15 seconds remaining.

Already leading 3-0, the Browns picked up their first double-digit lead of the season thanks to a Jamie Collins Sr. interception of Matthew Stafford. The Lions ended up winning 38-24.

The Lions finally put the game away at that point, as wide receiver Golden Tate took a short pass 40 yards for a touchdown that put the Lions up 38-24. Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson ran well.

Matt Prater kicked a 46-yard field goal before Abdullah's 8-yard scoring run capped a 90-yard drive to tie it.

For the 5-4 Lions, the win wasn't pretty, but it did keep them in NFC playoff contention.

Kenny Britt doubled his touchdown total for the season with a nice catch-and-run on a 19-yard pass.

For the second straight game, the Browns got off to a hot start, and it had a little bit to do with both sides of the ball.

Kessler hasn't fared much better than Kizer when called upon.

Down Goes Kizer - Kizer got leveled by Lions cornerback Quadre Diggs in the ribs with 6 seconds left in the third quarter and had to be walked off with trainers.
