US-made M4 carbine recovered from dead militants

For the first time in the almost 3-decade old militancy in the State, an American M4 carbine colt rifle was found on the slain militants.

The Jammu & Kashmir Police on Tuesday said they will ask Pakistan to collect the body of militant outfit Jaish e Muhammad Chief Moulana Masood Azhar's nephew Talha Rasheed killed in a gunfight with security forces in Aglar village of south Kashmir's Pulwama last night. However, this is the first M4 carbine to be recovered in Kashmir.

Azhar's nephew Talha Rasheed was active in the Kashmir valley for over two years. He said during searches, two hideouts of LeT terrorists were busted and a cache of explosives was recovered from there.

According to Rick Rossow from Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), an American think-tank, China's latest move affirmed Delhi's belief in Sino-Pakistani collusion.

Vinay Kumar, CRPF Commandant said, "Militants were holed up in 2 houses. They have been carried by militants who recently infiltrated from Pakistan", Raja said.

A civilian suffered injuries in the crossfire, they said.

"The matter will have to be taken thorough different channels, with concerned embassies", he said. "It is a subject matter of thorough investigation now", he said. A civilian was also injured in the encounter. "We take harsher measures only when militants fire at us or when stone pelters try to scuttle our operations", Raju added.

"There was disruption by locals who threw stones (at the security forces). We are not concerned what is their religion or other things", he said.

The JeM spokesman identified the other two militants killed as Divisional Commander Muhammad Bhai, a non-local, and Waseem, a resident of Drubgam in Pulwama.

"One of the slain militants was Wasim Ahmad Gania".

"M4 Carbine is a US-made weapon, presently with a lot of armies in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and it is also with the Special Forces of the Pakistan Army".

He alleged that the weapon was given to the JeM militants but Pakistan army.

"We have reason to believe that this weapon was given by Pakistan Army to JeM cadre, and that there are five to ten such M4 carbine rifles".
