Marvel has issued a statement to CBR on this morning's surprise news that Brian Michael Bendis has left the publisher after more than 17 years to sign exclusively with DC Comics.

So, news today of Bendis leaving Marvel for their primary competitor, DC, feels like something from the pages of one of his own books.

Bendis confirmed the news shortly after, saying "change is good".

Regardless, Bendis is a prolific and inventive writer - not just in comics and animated series (Spider-Man), but screenplays and games too. I am bursting with ideas and inspiration.

Brian Michael Bendis has always been among the chief writers at Marvel Comics having created some of the most popular 21st century characters, including Jessica Jones, Miles Morales the Ultimate Spider-Man, and Riri Williams, aka Ironheart. "Details to come! Stay tuned!"

Idea rolls out unlimited voice calling for Rs 179 with 1GB data
Under the new plan, those who recharge with Rs 399 will get 90GB 4G data for six months along with unlimited local and STD calls. However, unlike Jio's plans, the voice calls on Airtel's new plan are limited to 300 minutes per day and 1,200 minutes per week.

The announcement was made by DC on Twitter, and states not only is Bendis heading for the hallowed Hall of Justice to hang with the likes of the Man of Steel and Dark Knight, but his contract with DC is exclusive, meaning his time at Marvel is coming to an end.

"Brian is a great partner and has contributed incredible stories and characters to the Marvel Universe over the years", a representative for Marvel told Newsarama.

Outside of his work on Ultimate Spider-Man, Bendis is behind an innumerable amount of iconic comics for Marvel.

Speaking of Spider-Man, fans are aware that no other writer has written the solo adventures of the Miles Morales aside from Bendis, so it will be interesting to see who replaces him. "We appreciate his creativity and professionalism, and we wish him the best on his future projects".
