Lacazette should confront Wenger after benching him at Man City says Shearer

Wenger said: "I would say overall the referee made the decision today, with the soft penalty and the offside goal. I don't want to take anything away from their quality but it happened at a moment when we were in the game".

When the match ended, Arsene Wenger was furious how errors from the referee cost Arsenal the match while his City counterpart Pep Guardiola remained coy on the subject.

Arsene Wenger has attracted more than his fair share of criticism during his time as Arsenal manager.

"I believe it was no penalty", he told the BBC. "We know that Sterling dives well, and he does that [to win the penalty] very well".

There's a good chance Arsenal would still have fallen to defeat no matter who started - Man City are simply a much better side - but Wenger's decision to bench Lacazette sends the wrong signal to both his players and the numerous fans who are increasingly questioning his abilities.

He was also bitterly disappointed with City's third goal - with David Silva clearly offside as he squared for Gabriel Jesus to score.

"It's the second year we come here, we get two offside goals last year and we get one again this year". That goal was a killer, and by coincidences, all mistakes go for the home team as we know.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten believes the federal government should accept the offer. More than 600 refugees have barricaded themselves on Manus Island.

He felt the two goals City got in this fixture last season should not have stood and implied they always get the decisions.

His outburst angered Shearer, though, the Newcastle United legend calling on Wenger to apologise to the England worldwide.

"In a hard moment of the game he did very well", Wenger said.

"It's one thing for Wenger to deflect from his team's inadequacies, it's another to question someone's integrity and be wrong". Wenger did not explain why our expensive Frenchman was on the bench, but he did thinks Alexis had a good game as striker.

Kevin de Bruyne opened for City before Sergio Aguero doubled the lead from the spot. I think we played quite well against a team that plays with pace and is always unsafe on the counter. "When City winning this way it is unacceptable", argued Wenger.

"The fact that you tell me it's an offside goal shows enough".
