Deontay Wilder declares 'war' on fellow champ Anthony Joshua

It was an easy night for Deontay Wilder on Saturday as he defended his WBC heavyweight title by knocking out Bermane Stiverne in the first round.

"The Bronze Bomber" dropped Stiverne no fewer than three times in the first round of his latest title defence and displayed his trademark wild style in putting his challenger down for the count with his last flurry of the evening.

"So much frustration, it just seemed like my career, it's been insane". I'm saying it because two unbeaten heavyweights, one unified champion, one lineal champion, both over six foot six tall, both over 18 stone.

"I would also want it over here with home advantage, without a doubt". I know I'm the champion, I know I'm the best.

The Olympic bronze medalist from Alabama had won the title from Stiverne on points when they first met almost three years ago, on the night Wilder became the first American to capture a piece of the heavyweight championship in almost a decade. After a minute where neither fighter did much, Wilder thumped his chest, pressed forward and cut loose a right hand that sent Stiverne to the canvas. The final blow came in the waning moments of the opening round as Wilder landed four clean punches to the face of a wobbly Stiverne.

Joshua, who moved to 20-0 with a win on October 28, and promoter Eddie Hearn have said Wilder, who in Brooklyn knocked out the only man to take him the distance, is in their plans for 2018, along with former champion Tyson Fury and WBO champion Joseph Parker.

This time, Wilder got the knockout, and it didn't take long.

"I declare war upon you", Wilder (39-0, 38 KOs) said in the ring Saturday at Barclays Center. Do you accept my challenge? "I know I'm the best (via BadLeftHook)". "Is you up for the test?"

He continued: "A king don't chase the peasants. A king takes kings", Wilder said.

"I personally would love to see him fight Anthony Joshua, just because I'm a massive Joshua fan and he wants those big fights, he wants to unify", he explained. Joshua come and see me baby.

"No more diving, no more ducking, no more dodging. Make the date, don't wait".
