As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited British Prime Minister Theresa May in London, McDonald described the United Kingdom as "a close friend of Israel and has an unshakeable commitment to Israel's right to exist, and its security".

Mrs May will say the United Kingdom is proud of its "pioneering role in the creation of the state of Israel". Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn declined an invitation to the event and is expected to send a representative in his place.

May will also warn about a "pernicious form of anti-Semitism which uses criticism of the actions of the Israeli government as a despicable justification for questioning the very right of Israel to exist".

British Prime Minister Theresa May hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday to mark the anniversary with a dinner.

In her speech, Mrs May will say that Britain is proud of its role in helping to create Israel but is determined to see an independent Palestinian state created alongside it.

The head of Britain's diplomatic service has said Lord Balfour "wanted his words to have historic effect" but that his Declaration would have included the right of Palestinian self-determination if written a few decades later.

"As a Palestinian, I condemn all the suffering that this declaration caused and I appreciate the governmental representation in the protest, but this is not enough", she told The Jordan Times, concluding that "our government still maintains ties with Israel, and if they really stand with Palestine, I would like to see them taking real actions in our defence". It wasn't a tragedy.

Israel strikes copper facility in Syria's Homs
Lebanon's Al-Mayadeen news outlet reported that Syria fired a surface-to-air missile at Israeli aircraft following the strike. Stating further that the two organizations possessed a shared cause as resistance groups that oppose Israeli aggression.

"I hope they change their mind, because if they do they can move forward finally to making peace between our two peoples".

"One hundred years after Balfour, the Palestinians should finally accept a Jewish national home and finally accept a Jewish state".

The British government's pledge, on 2 November 1917, was made in a letter by the then Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Lord Walter Rothschild, a leader of the British Jewish community.

The Balfour Declaration was the first global recognition by a world power of the right of the Jewish people to a national home in their ancestral land and formed the basis of Britain's Mandate for Palestine in 1920.

Last year, the Palestinian leadership in the occupied West Bank said it meant to sue the British government for a decision it said had led to mass Jewish immigration "to Palestine at the expense of our Palestinian people".

Zionists feel it is the foundation for modern Israel while non-Jewish Palestinians and Arabs speak of loss and dispossession.

But an unrepentant May emphasized that Britain was proud "of the relationship we have built with Israel" but urged "renewed resolve" for a "lasting peace" between Israel and Palestine that she said would require "compromises from each side" including an end to Israeli settlements, and what she called "Palestinian incitement".
