Sessions' testimony directly contradicts an Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit that alleges former Trump adviser George Papadopoulos spoke directly with Sessions about potentially arranging a meeting with then-candidate Trump during the 2016 election.

The CNN host went on to discuss how we now seem to see a timeline that "substantiates lots of interaction between Trump campaign and just as hacking was taking place and rolled out to the benefit of the Trump campaign". "I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians".

During his confirmation hearing in January, Sessions told Sen.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is once again under scrutiny on Capitol Hill regarding his candor about Russia and the Trump campaign amid revelations that he rejected a suggestion to convene a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump a year ago.

Last month he reiterated he did not know of any Trump campaign official having contact with Russian officials - a claim Senate Democrats are pushing back on.

He told Sky News: "I was very surprised that we're still hearing about it today, because I had no idea that George was going around me, and going around Senator Sessions - his actual chain of command - to pitch this idea to others on the campaign who maybe weren't there that day, or maybe weren't paying attention to others".

TRUMP: You know, the saddest thing is that because I'm the president of the United States, I am not supposed to be involved with the Justice Department.

Recalling Hunter's behaviour on the set the director says, "She had a self-assured, playful way herself". He was openly flirtatious, he grabbed my ass, he talked about sex to me and in front of me.

Asked who else was informed, Page played coy, saying, "It will come out". He also testified that he was "not aware" of anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicating with the Russians.

Although Page said his comment to Sessions was only in passing and the trip was unrelated to the campaign, he statements call into question Sessions' testimony to Congress regarding the Trump campaign and any potential ties between it and Russian Federation.

"He needs to clarify his testimony before our committee", Judiciary Committee member Sen. He has denied knowing anything about contacts between the campaign and Russians or Russian government intermediaries.

The source said Sessions was not aware that Papadopoulos had been offered "dirt" on Clinton or emails. Trump denies any collusion with Russian Federation and Moscow denies interfering in the 2016 USA election.

Page said it was the only time he met Sessions. He answered some questions from reporters.

According to aides to Sessions who weren't authorized to speak publicly about the matter, the attorney general did not give false testimony and disputes any description of the March 31 meeting that suggests Papadopoulos informed those present that he was in contact with the Russian government.
