An air raid, presumably by Israeli jets, last night struck a military position between Damascus and Homs in central Syria, according to UK-based monitoring group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Arab media has reported that anti-aircraft missiles were fired but missed the Israeli planes. Other sources have identified the target as a manufacturing facility.

In official letters to the UNSC and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the minister said that the worldwide body needs to take immediate and firm actions in response to the airstrike and make sure that Israel refrains from carrying out additional attacks in the future.

Lebanon's Al-Mayadeen news outlet reported that Syria fired a surface-to-air missile at Israeli aircraft following the strike.

The Israeli air force says it has struck arms convoys of the Syrian military and its Lebanese ally, the Iran-backed Hezbollah, almost 100 times in recent years. Stating further that the two organizations possessed a shared cause as resistance groups that oppose Israeli aggression.
