Injured Nadal a doubt for London

Rafael Nadal battled through to the quarter-finals today

Nadal, who has never won the Paris Masters, did not know yet whether he would be fit for London.

Rafael Nadal moved into the Paris Masters quarter-finals by beating Uruguay's world number 36 Pablo Cuevas.

"If you do it right, take care of yourself and have some luck, there is no reason you can't be playing at 100 percent at this tournament at the end of the season".

"For me it's not about London. For..."

Nearly nothing could separate the rivals in the shortest and longest points but Nadal had a slight advantage in the mid-range rallies, despite hitting a lot of unforced errors.

Given the troubles he has faced in staying healthy in recent years, he is perhaps wise to prioritise the long term and skip the World Tour Finals as a precaution, with the hope it allows him to enjoy another strong season next year.

Australia to ban climbing Uluru from 2019
The board can also close the climb if it believes people will continue to visit the sacred site without being able to climb. Climbing on Australia's iconic Uluru landmark, previously known as Ayers Rock, is to be banned from October 2019.

The Spaniard withdrew from the Paris Masters on Friday, and Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray - all missing from the tournament - have also been sidelined by injury during the season.

Nadal said that after the match last night that he got treatment on the knee but that it was impossible to go out on court today and potentially maybe, play three more matches.

The 31-year-old Nadal has become the oldest player to achieve year-end No. 1 Emirates ATP Ranking since 1973. He said that he was going to do his best to play in London, but that his main concern is not the World Tour Finals, but more so that he can continue playing tennis long-term.

The Serbian will go up against John Isner of the United States in the last four after the big-serving American beat Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro 6-4, 6-7, 6-4.

"I did not expect this at all, I was ready to play but then I heard he had pulled out", said the Serb.
