In latest lawsuit, Qualcomm accuses Apple of leaking its software to Intel

Apple looking beyond Qualcomm for smartphone components

Now, the Qualcomm vs. Apple legal war has escalated into a new suit alleging that Apple has shared trade secrets with Qualcomm rival Intel.

The folks over at Bloomberg spotted the new lawsuit filing, which claims that Apple may have used its "unprecedented access" to Qualcomm code in order to help Intel develop a competing chip.

The spat between Apple and chipmaker Qualcomm just keeps getting nastier and nastier, and apparently Apple may finally have had enough of it. The person, who requested anonymity as the matter is private, added that Apple might use modem chips from Intel Corp and MediaTek Inc instead of Qualcomm's.

Reuters reported earlier this week that Apple would drop Qualcomm's chips altogether from its iPhones and iPads beginning next year.

The move is the latest in a long running battle. The legal proceedings between the two companies started in January, when Apple sued Qualcomm, accusing them of overcharging for use of their patented chips.

Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Joe Gomez receive senior England call-ups
Midfielder Loftus-Cheek has made six appearances for Crystal Palace in spite of missing some games with a thigh injury. But efforts to make him agree to play with the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation proved abortive.

Apple responded to this, saying that the company had tried to negotiate before suing and that Qualcomm is abusing its position. Second, the iPhone maker has been manufacturing some of its devices with Intel modems since previous year, which could potentially give Qualcomm's allegations more weight in court.

In July Intel filed a statement with ITC claiming Qualcomm is trying to Force them out of the modem business with Apple.

In contrast, revenue from Qualcomm's licensing business fell 36 percent to $1.21 billion in the quarter ended September 24.

In another United States case, Qualcomm alleges that it has six patents developed in the past four years that improve battery life in mobile devices and that 'Apple uses these technologies in its devices but is not paying for them'.
