Kostas Manolas should be fit to return to the central defence alongside Federico Fazio, fresh from signing a contract extension, who has impressed since replacing the Greek against Napoli two weeks ago and been key in the subsequent three straight clean sheets in the league (admittedly against middling and outright poor opposition). Despite being a 3-3 draw, it was proof of the desire of both teams to go for it.

Edin Dzeko's slight touch following a cross from Aleksandar Kolarov set up El Shaarawy to blast in from the edge of the area. Eden Hazard found himself in on goal but couldn't quite squeeze his shot past Alisson Becker, who made a smart save to deny the Belgian. Although not quite as good as Dzeko's goal against Chelsea in the fixture between the pair at Stamford Bridge, it was still a pretty special strike from the El Shaarawy.

"The most important thing is to go game by game, tomorrow is the most important game".

The centre of the pitch will be occupied by Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko, with Cesar Azipilicueta and Marcos Alonso operating out wide. The onslaught of pacey attacks proved too much for Chelsea and eventually Diego Perotti put the game out of sight for the home side, who played with incredibly confidence and flair. The home fans were enjoying themselves in the closing moments, sarcastically cheering whenever a Chelsea player completed a pass or took on a shot.

This was a stunning victory for Roma, who jumped straight to the top of Group C and put themselves in the ideal position to secure qualification for the knockout stages.

The Europa League looked a distinct possibility, but now, unbeaten and second place in Group C with leaders Chelsea arriving in the Eternal City, Roma have the chance to put one foot in the knockout stages.

Roma next travel to Atletico Madrid with Chelsea facing the long trip to Qarabag in Azerbaijan. Putting their win in front, the Blues are expected to turn things around when they face Eusebio Di Francesco's men tonight at the Stadio Olimpico.
