GameStop's PowerPass plan lets you rent all the used games you want

GameStop Employees Comment on Rental Program Rumors

Between digital downloads and the growing presence of game streaming services, the former retail giant has been forced to watch as the future slowly surrounds them. Basically, keep a title until you manage to complete it, or get bored, then hand it back in for a new one. You'll also need to pick your games from what's physically available in-store, no pulling from GameStop's online selection.

The company's new PowerPass subscription service gives customers access to unlimited used games for $60 every six months.

GameStop will soon be starting a new service under an exciting rental scheme. You are only allowed to rent one pre-owned game at a time, and you must return it when you rent the next title. With GameFly's mail-based system, you'll still have to wait a couple of days to receive the disk, even if you live close to one of its distribution centers.

All performers donated their fees to Linkin Park's charity Music for Relief's fundraiser programme One More Light Fund . The three-hour concert took place on October 27 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and was live streamed on YouTube.

The $60 covers six months of rental time and at the end of that period, players are able to choose a pre-owned game to keep.

Signups for the service begin on November 19, which means the service is rolling out just in time to make a great Christmas present. Both services are subscription-based, and both allow you to get your hands on nearly any kind of game you want, regardless of release date. You might have noticed GameStop stores carrying fewer video games on shelves over the last few years, and instead reserving more space for figures and game-related shirts, but the success of PowerPass could convince the retailer to stock a larger number of games on its shelves again. Mashable reports that despite other reports, PowerPass membership does not require a separate Power-Up Rewards subscription, which would otherwise be an additional cost on top.

If you like to play games a lot, there's no way GameStop PowerPass won't save you money.
