New Screenings for US-Bound Passengers on Global Airlines

Worldwide airlines flying from the Middle East to the United States have been asked by American security officials that of Thursday, pre-screening interviews be added to security procedures on flights from certain Arab airports to the United States.

The Department of Homeland Security is about to roll out new, heightened security measures that will impact the 2,000 flights and 325,000 travelers who arrive in the USA from foreign countries every day. Airlines and airports were given 120 days to comply with the new directives. China Airlines and Korean Airlines are just two of the carriers that have been trying to work with American regulators to ensure compliance.

Even as airlines have no choice but to comply with the new rules, industry bodies like the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) have raised concerns about the impact of such measures. "Passengers should allow additional time to be checked-in and boarded if travelling to the US from Dubai International Airport".

Economy passengers on Lufthansa's Swiss airline have been asked to check in at least 90 minutes before departure. It also halted its in-town check-in and self bag-drop services for direct flights to the U.S.

Some airlines will be opening check-in desks early to avoid delays.

Her allegations continued "And then, all the while being photographed, touched me again". His security guard told me I shouldn't have stood next to him for the photo.

Travelers on all non-stop flights to the United States, including those from Singapore, should be prepared for tighter security checks that may include being questioned at check-in and boarding.

The TSA said in July it was imposing new security rules requiring USA domestic airline travelers to remove all electronic items larger than mobile phones such as tablets, e-readers and video game consoles from carry-on baggage for screening.

Alexandre de Juniac, CEO of the International Air Transport Association, expressed concern over the American government's actions.

"What we have seen is very unusual", he told reporters in Taipei. Unilateral measures announced without any prior consultation ... Some say they will conduct screening interviews at check-in counters; provide questionnaires for all US-bound passengers and conduct detailed inspection of personal electronic devices.
