Nintendo Switch Update v4.0.0 Supports GameCube Controllers

You Can Now Use GameCube Controllers With Your Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch rolled out the massive 4.0 update on their newest console and with that, the developers introduced a lot of most wanted features.

Nearly a week ago, the Nintendo Switch released its system update 4.0, which added a few new features, including the ability to pre-order/pre-load games before they're released and even capture video while playing games.

We knew the 4.0 Switch update added support for video capture and data transfers, but it seems Nintendo quietly snuck in support for GameCube controllers and didn't tell us. There is a caveat, however-using a GameCube controllers means you will have to do without a ZL button and home button.

Fox kept Bill O'Reilly despite $32M sexual harassment settlement
The New York Times reported Saturday the company renewed the contract after O'Reilly reached a $32 million settlement. It also said O'Reilly and the woman had agreed the financial terms would be kept confidential.

You will have to make some concessions on certain Switch games using a GameCube controller, though. Users at GameXplain were the first to point out the added support for the GameCube controllers. Once this is done, the controller is ready to use. The GameCube controller, being a product of its time, obviously lacks a few buttons that the Switch Joy-Cons and Pro Controller have. For a game like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, that equates to not having access to your shield.

To celebrate the announcement of the release date, a brand new trailer was released, which shows off some gameplay from the Switch version of the game. However, controls at that time were very much limited, making the controller nearly unusable with most Switch games, notes TechRadar.

The Nintendo Switch received a massive update last week and it looks to be so big that new additions are still being discovered.
