An "announcement" link on that site now redirects to another website promoting his tour and album. Naturally, Kid Rock's U.S. Senate bid was all to boost interest in his upcoming record.

The Senate tease - for which he said he received support from all over the world - is "the worst advice that I ever gave myself, but it's been the most creative thing I've ever done, and I got to see everybody's true colors", the 46-year-old said. In recent months, he had delved into politics during speeches at concerts.

The L.A. Times headlined another piece, No joke: Kid Rock is a competitive candidate for the U.S. Senate in MI.

At one point Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R., Ky.) super PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund, expressed interest in seeing the musician run for office.

"Let's not let this divide us", Rock said he told Rosenberg.
