Starting this week, owners of select Android smartphones will be able to make Duo calls right from their device's Android Phone, Contacts, and Android Messages apps. You also need Contacts app version 2.1 and up to see the option on the contact's name, and Android Messages app version 2.6 or up to see the video call option in a conversation. It's also free and works with any device running Android 4.4 or up, which should cover pretty much any phone or tablet you're now using.

Google Duo is a one-to-one video calling app for Android and iOS that the company launched back in August 2016. That apart the whole ViLTE compatibility thing is unclear since both the caller and the receiver needs to be on a carrier that supports ViLTE. "Later this year, we'll also add the ability to upgrade an ongoing voice call to video with just a tap", announced Google in a blog post. It's one of Google's many messaging apps: Android Messages, Allo, Duo, Hangouts Chat, and Hangouts Meet - YouTube even got a chat feature recently.

As for supported devices, you and whoever you are video calling only have a handful to choose from.

The official Wallpapers app from Google received a few new categories today, including a wallpaper specifically for all Pixel users that was showcased on the Pixel 2 at Google's October 4 event. Thankfully, Google's carrier partner Verizon is offering just that.
