Two U.S. Air Force bombers flew over North Korea on Tuesday night, in a demonstration aimed at deterring North Korean military activity on the 72nd anniversary of the regime's ruling party, Reuters reported.

While North Korea was not able to hack US power companies, there are concerns among some of observers that the regime may attempt to damage the power grid by detonating a nuclear device at a high altitude above the USA, triggering an electromagnetic pulse (EMP).

North Korea is widely expected to conduct another provocation this month, possibly around the October 18 opening of the 19th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.

North Korea tested two intercontinental ballistic missiles in July and conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test in September.

"It is the steadfast will of all the service personnel and people of the DPRK (North Korea) to shower fire on the US", Ri said.

Tensions have soared between the United States and North Korea following a series of weapons tests by Pyongyang and a string of increasingly bellicose exchanges between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Asked by a TASS reporter if dialogue between North Korea and the USA is possible, Ri said it was not.

Return of Embiid for Sixers will air on NBC Sports Philadelphia tonight
Sixers coach Brett Brown saw a difference in his team during the time Embiid was available last season and sees plenty of upside. Embiid, 23, has suited up in just 31 games since being picked third overal in the 2014 NBA Draft.

According to one South Korean lawmaker, the country's hackers stole military plans developed by the United States and South Korea past year.

"The briefing and discussion focused on a range of options to respond to any form of North Korean aggression or, if necessary, to prevent North Korea from threatening the United States and its allies with nuclear weapons", the White House said.

Ri's comments are likely to continue to fuel a mounting war of words between Trump and Kim.

When it first opened in 2004, the Kaesong complex, located about 54 kilometers northwest of Seoul, was meant to promote inter-Korean development and give North Korean workers a taste of life in the south, including snack foods like the cakes known as Choco Pies and toiletries that were resold as luxury items in the North.

To make the complex fully operational again, North Korea would also be hard pressed to replace the electricity supply that came from South Korea, according to the Kaesong business owners. A similar number, or 69 percent, said they are concerned about the threat to USA allies, such as South Korea and Japan.

Trump slammed more than two decades of US policy toward North Korea on Twitter on Monday, saying past action to quell the crisis "didn't work". Trump said. "That's the way it works".

"They likely remain committed to pursuing targets in the energy sector, especially in South Korea and among the US and its allies, as a means of deterring potential war or sowing disorder during a time of armed conflict".
