Amazon gives teens their own login, but parents retain power

Amazon now lets teens shop with their own account, but with parental approval

"As a parent of a teen, I know how they crave independence, but at the same time that has to be balanced with the convenience and trust that parents need", said Michael Carr, vice president of Amazon Households, in a statement.

Pre-approving orders is done alongside establishing a spending limit, meaning that while the teen can order anything they want, they can only do such up to a certain price before the ability is taken away. When a teen finds something they wish to order, they can place the order on the app and the parent will receive a text or email showing the item, cost, shipping address and payment information.

The new teen accounts are a part of Amazon Households, the Amazon feature that allows customers to share their Prime accounts with other family members, create shared digital libraries for the family, and share credit and debit cards. The teen can also add a note to their parents. Amazon's default setting with this service is autoapproval of orders, but parents can individually approve them via text if they so prefer. Instead of a teen being able to buy whatever they want over a shared login, their experience is now more structured.

Kobe steel admits falsifying quality data
The company said the fabrications, which might have started a decade ago, could affect products sent to as many as 200 companies. A Subaru company representative said, "We will put the safety of customers using our products first".

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is now allowing teens to make their own accounts on its website. As long as their parents have an active Amazon Prime subscription, teens can access Twitch Prime, Prime Video and free two-day Prime shipping on select products at no extra cost. Teens get greater freedom and parents still get itemized notifications of orders.

Amazon - which had annual revenue of $136 billion a year ago - accounts for roughly one-third of all online US sales.
