Jann Mardenborough followed just such a path, and in a different coming together of video games and real life, has remotely driven an actual Nissan GT-R at speeds of up to 211 km/h (131 mph) using a PlayStation DualShock 4 controller.

Nissan has created the ultimate remote-control auto for gamers - the Nissan GT-R /C.

Nissan have revealed that they've managed to achieve every racing video game fan's dream: a controller operated auto which can hit speeds of 130mph.

The driver of the vehicle was flown around behind the GT-R /C in a helicopter and controlled the auto from there.

To celebrate the release of Gran Turismo Sport on October 18 Nissan has done something very cool. With the controller connected to a micro-computer transmitting signals from the controller's buttons and joysticks to the car's onboard systems, Mardenborough reached speeds of up to 131 miles per hour while zipping around the track.

Angelina Jolie offered to nab Ugandan warlord
She replied that Pitt was "being supportive" and that they should "discuss logistics", however the trip seemingly did not happen. He reportedly developed a fascination with the actress over a period of time from 2003 and 2012, the Huffington Post said.

The auto, called the GT-R/C, was built by JLB Design, a company famous for constructing life-size remote-controlled vehicles. Four robots inside the vehicle controlled the steering, transmission, throttle and brakes.

In 2011 he was the victor of the GT Academy, Nissan's driver discovery and development programme.

The controller itself is hooked up to a micro-computer that interprets the joystick and button signals, transmitting them to the GT-R /C's onboard systems. However, the controller had one serious modification, a range of one kilometre. In the helicopter, Mardenborough used an LCD display to judge speeds.

"This was once-in-a-lifetime, truly epic stuff". JLB Design has done an incredible job at making everything respond really well. Still, it would not be so until next several years after which Nissan introduced the auto and availed them in the European as well as American markets and this is how the mental connection has become permanent between the Gran Turismo and GT-R. "Now that's innovation that excites!"

Insane promotional efforts aside, this GT-R/C will serve some useful objective in 2018 on a tour of primary and secondary schools in the United Kingdom to promote future careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) subjects.
