Pro Football Hall of Fame member and former LSU star Y.A. Tittle has died, LSU announced on Monday.

Y.A. Tittle Avenue off of Bob Petit Boulevard, near LSU's campus, was also named in his honor. He was selected in the first round of the 1948 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts.

At age 34, no one would've been surprised if Tittle's career went downhill in NY, but that's not what happened. Rather, the maturing quarterback hit his prime with the Giants and drove them to three straight National Football League title amusements. However, Tittle began his 17-season professional career with the Baltimore Colts of the All-American Football Conference and later played for the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants, with whom he led to three straight division titles.

The photo was taken in 1964, Tittle's last season, by Morris Berman of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Tittle is pictured sitting on the field, spent and exhausted after throwing an interception.

The picture came after a play where Tittle was hit so hard that he suffered a concussion and a cracked sternum. The two numbers have stood the trial of time. Tittle was named the MVP of a game that ended in a 0-0 tie with Arkansas. He passed for 33,070 yards and 242 TDs in two leagues during his career before being elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.
