Paralympian Tatyana McFadden wins seventh straight Chicago Marathon in record time

It's been 15 years since an American man has won the 40th annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon, but that record was broken today after Galen Rupp became the first American man to win the Chicago Marathon since 2002.

Rupp, whose father is from Maywood, pulled away from a pack that included defending champion Abel Kirui in the 23d mile.

But ultimately she came up slightly short of the course record.

Florence Kiplagat's 10km time of 32:28 was also 19 seconds faster than Radcliffe's record split but by 15km it was Hasay, third this year in Boston, leading in 49:02, three seconds under record pace.

One of the biggest breakthroughs in the race was 26-year-old Jordan Hasay, who ran 2:20:57 to become the second-fastest American woman of all-time. Stanley Biwott, a 2:03:51 marathoner and victor of New York City in 2015, dropped out shortly after. Dibaba was out in front on her own, having gapped Kosgei, while Kirui, Rupp and Ethiopian Sisay Lemma were in contention duking out who would finish where on the men's podium.

Chargers end nine-game losing streak, Giants remain winless
The Giants drafted Rivers fourth overall in 2004 with the plan to trade him to the Chargers , who took Manning No. 1. Manning hit Roger Lewis Jr. down the left sideline for a 29-yard touchdown to go up six with 6:46 left in the third.

Rupp clinched the silver medal in the men's 10,000m race at the 2012 London Olympics. He won the Olympic Trials Marathon in February 2016 in his debut, then claimed Olympic bronze in Rio de Janeiro and finished second in the 2017 Boston Marathon in April.

As Dibaba had more than a minute lead at the 40K mark, she was never in danger of finishing outside of the winner's circle.

Another Kenyan in Bernard Kipyego crossed third in 2:10.23.

Rupp, a two-time Olympian, finished the men's race with a time of 2:09:20.

The Chicago Marathon was only his fourth marathon ever.
