Panama is pitted against Costa Rica, in a game that does not change anything of Costa Rica's, but certainly, a win for the "Canaleros" could send Panama to their first World Cup.

In a match postponed a day because of a tropical storm, Eddie Hernandez's header from Romell Quioto's cross put Honduras ahead in the 66th minute.

Costa Rica's Kendall Waston (C) heads to score against Honduras during their 2018 World Cup qualifier football match, in San Jose on October 7, 2017. The Vancouver Whitecaps defender outjumped Maynor Figueroa and Johnny Palacios to head the ball past Donis Escober to the goalkeeper's left from 8 yards.

Costa Rica have 16 points and are second in the final round of North and Central American and Caribbean region qualification, behind Mexico, who have 21 points and clinched a World Cup berth last month.

Honduras is still in the hunt for a top-four finish, now fifth with nine points, just behind on goal differential to the United States in fourth. "Our players know they are playing in the World Cup and they will surely get over it soon and focus on next game". The Ticos also played in 2002 and 2006.
