United Nations braced for 'further exodus' of Rohingya from Myanmar

Mr Lowcock said the access given to humanitarian workers in northern Rakhine state, where the crisis is centred, is "unacceptable".

New Delhi, Oct 6 India and the European Union today expressed "deep concern" over the Rohingya refugee crisis during their 14th summit with the two sides urging Myanmar to work with Bangladesh for their return.

Around 515,000 people have crossed into Bangladesh in the last six weeks after a military crackdown that the United Nations has described as ethnic cleansing.

US lawmakers are calling for "full access" by journalists and aid workers to Myanmar's troubled Rakhine state.

Rohingya Muslim's traveled 12 miles through jungles to the Myanmar border to Bangladesh, fleeing the ethnic cleansing due to Burma not recognizing them as an ethnic group in the Rakhine state and claiming that they are living in the country illegally, reported the Independent.

A small United Nations team visited the crisis-wracked region in majority Buddhist Myanmar in recent days and described witnessing "unimaginable" suffering.

"This flow out of Myanmar has not stopped yet, it's into the hundreds of thousands of Rohingya (who are) still in Myanmar, we want to be ready in case there is a further exodus", said the UN's under secretary-general for humanitarian affairs, Mark Lowcock, in a Friday press briefing in Geneva.

Manchester United Legend Makes Bold Claim About Current Squad
Before the November worldwide break, Man United will play against Benfica once more before visiting Chelsea's Stamford Bridge. Also, they believe the league's current relative competitiveness is a big attraction for the Premier League overseas .

There may be up to 100,000 more people in northern Rakhine waiting to cross into Bangladesh, according to the International Organization for Migration.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned of a potential cholera outbreak among the Rohingya, saying the arrival of vaccines in the affected areas had been delayed.

Local officials in Rakhine said Monday's tour includes meetings with relatives of victims allegedly killed by Muslim militants during the violence against Mro and Daignets minority Hindu communities in Maungdaw township.

Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar's leader, was criticised for not doing more to intervene - but has since spoken out against any human rights abuses.

Swaraj had earlier expressed India's full support to Bangladesh's stance over the Rohingya issue as worldwide concern grows over the fate of the refugees.

The news came as Bangladesh minister of Road Transport and Bridge Obaidul Quader said during a visit to Cox's Bazar the Rohingya refugees were an "unbearable burden" to his country.
