Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Special Agent in Charge Jill Schneider also told reporters Tuesday that Stephen Paddock had almost 50 guns in three locations, a combination of rifles, shotguns and pistols. More than 500 people were injured in the attack.

Ms Danley is believed to have been in the Philippines when the shooting occurred, though some media is reporting she was in Japan. Lombardo said that Paddock, who is from Mesquite, shot himself dead.

The girlfriend of the gunman who killed 59 people on the Las Vegas Strip is being questioned by police after returning to the U.S. from the Philippines.

"He was shot, but I can not tell you it was the police that shot him".

But Paul Fennewald, former coordinator of Missouri Homeland Security, said Paddock most likely showed signs of extremism before he committed mass murder.

He subsequently said the regional Catalan government must abandon plans to declare independence to avoid "greater evils". Instead, he claimed, the King was following the anti-Catalan nationalist policies of Spanish PM Mariano Rajoy .

Twelve bump fire stocks were found on firearms recovered from Paddock's hotel room, said Jill Snyder, the special agent in charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' San Francisco field office.

Police found the guns and ammunition in the room being used by suspected shooter Stephen Paddock at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday afternoon, sheriff Joseph Lombardo said "he had to have some help". He had no prior "derogatory" interactions with police, said Sheriff Lombardo, except for one citation several years ago which the sheriff declined to specify. There was reason to believe that Paddock had a history of psychological problems, one official said. He then hauled an arsenal of 23 firearms up to the room, broke out two windows and sprayed bullets into the crowd of about 22,000 people at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

Two senior United States officials said on Monday that there was no evidence that the shooter was tied to any global militant group and one said there was reason to believe that the attacker had a history of psychological problems. "We are going to pay our respects and to see the police who have done really a fantastic job in a very short time", Trump said before leaving the White House.
