CW to debut "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina"

Sabrina the Teenage Witch Series

Sabrina the Teenage Witch Series

The network is creating a new one-hour drama based on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Variety reports.

In 2017, even Sabrina the Teenage Witch is getting a dark reboot.

The series will come from the same team behind Riverdale including Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who wrote the Riverdale pilot, and Lee Toland Krieger, who directed it.

Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is writing the adaptation, which could potentially debut in the 2018-19 season. This dark coming-of-age story deals with horror, the occult, and witchcraft and will see Sabrina struggle to reconcile her dual nature of being half-witch and half-mortal while protecting her family and the world from the forces of evil.

Trailing on the heels of its smash hit Riverdale, The CW is banking on another Archie Comics wonder teen. The show hasn't been ordered to series yet, but its odds are good by virtue of executive producer Greg Berlanti, who has a bunch of shows on The CW including Riverdale, Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl.

Priyanka Chopra is EN VOGUE @ the Emmys
It is being said that when Priyanka was called on stage to give away award to John Oliver for Outstanding Variety Talk series. She wore a mermaid-style gown, decorated with dazzling metallic embellishments and finished with a feathered train.

Now, it's important to note that the show hasn't been chosen to go to series yet, but considering how successful Riverdale has been, along with how many producers from Riverdale are scheduled to work on the show, it wouldn't surprise us if it became an actual series!

Instead, Archie Comics has confirmed that the basis for the show will be Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the show will just add a The in front to differentiate.

That sounds like a far cry from the pointing magic Melissa Joan Hart displayed in the late nineties and early aughts, but cyclical fashion promises characters will more or less be dressed the same.

Are you excited for a dark and unsafe Sabrina show?

The CW already airs Archie's Riverdale, and a Sabrina show would be a "companion series" but not necessarily interconnected, continuity-wise. Let us know in the comments!
