Immigration groups rally as President Trump mulls protections for 'Dreamers'

Advocates call for Trump to defend DACA ahead of potential lawsuit

President Donald Trump is expected to end a program that allows immigrants brought to the United States as children to stay here and work legally.

Trump has wrestled for months with whether to do away with the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals programme introduced by his predecessor Barack Obama in June 2012 to shield hundreds of thousands of undocumented youths from deportation.

The program was enacted by executive order by President Barack Obama and affects almost 800,000 people nationwide.

Trump is looking at whether the USA state attorneys general who seek a decision on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) are willing to extend their deadline of September 5 for action from Trump.

"I stand with all the Dreamers, the 800,000 "DACA-mented" youth and their families, and will continue to support them as they fight for the right to achieve the American Dream of a better life for themselves and their families".

If DACA is ended Tuesday, North Carolina's economy is set to lose more than $1 billion a year, according to CNBC.

State Attorney General Bob Ferguson said his office will file a lawsuit to end what he called Trump's "cruel and illegal policy" and defend DACA recipients.

Atletico tells Costa to return to Chelsea
The chances of Diego Costa rejoining Atletico Madrid tonight are "unlikely, but not impossible", according to Sky sources. Conte, for his part, has repeatedly stated that Costa is "in the past" for Chelsea .

Across the country, undocumented immigrants and their allies are taking to the streets to protest President Donald Trump's decision to phase out protections from deportation for almost 800,000 young immigrants known as Dreamers.

Though Trump is due to formally announce his decision on Tuesday, sources have cautioned that he could still change his mind.

Some educators have said that Trump's immigration policies and rhetoric have created additional stress for undocumented students or for children whose parents are undocumented.

Politico reported Trump plans to put a six-month trigger on the decision, meaning the White House will wait six months before enforcing it. The threat: Sunset DACA by September 5 or the states will try to end it in court.

During his announcement, Sessions said that DACA was an "open-ended circumvention of immigration laws".

Ryan, who worked on comprehensive immigration reform before he became part of House leadership, endorsed that approach in the interview.

"Many of them don't know any other home".
