It's called Nexus: 2036, and it features Niander Wallace (Leto) introducing a new line of "perfected replicants" called The Nexus 9, seeking to get the prohibitions on replicant production repealed. As you'll see, he has a striking (and bloody) way of showing them how the new replicants operate.

It begins with Wallace sitting in front of a group of authorities with one of the new Replicants he has developed. The original Blade Runner ended ambiguously in 2017 when Deckard fled Los Angeles with the replicant Rachael. 2020: The Tyrell Corporation introduces a new replicant model, the Nexus 8S, which has extended lifespans. Villeneuve said in an intro for the clip, 'I have asked a couple of artists who I respect to create three short stories that dramatized some key events that occurred after 2019, when the first Blade Runner takes place, but before 2049, when my new Blade Runner story begins'.

According to a Comic-Con teaser video and the movie's website, in 2022 the United States was crippled by a rolling blackout when a massive EMP detonated on the West Coast and replicants were blamed for it.

Defending Champion Kerber Eliminated From US Open
It was her first top-10 win, but this very contained young woman was not about to leap for joy-it is not her way. The Czech defeated Poland's Magda Linette 6-2 6-1, and was relieved to safely negotiate the first hurdle.

2023: Replicant prohibition takes effect. The short film, set in 2036, is confusingly out of sync with this timeline. Wallace first solved world hunger with genetically engineered food in 2025, later buying the Tyrell Corp.in 2028.

The film also stars Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista, Edward James Olmos and Jared Leto.

What happened in the years between the original Blade Runner movie and Denis Villeneuve's upcoming sequel? It is due out October 6 in the United States.
