B'desh record first Test win over Aus

Shakib Al Hasan carved through Australia's batting line-up with a five-wicket haul as Bangladesh secured their first victory over Australia in Test history. When Australia was reduced to 9 wickets with 37 runs to win, Cummins switched gears and tried to finish the match on his own. Shakib finished with the figures of 85/5 while Taijul Islam picked up three wickets as well.

Australian captain Steve Smith says there are no excuses after a calamitous 20-run defeat to Bangladesh in a gripping first cricket test in Dhaka.

Hazlewood's contribution to the Bangladesh tour may not be over yet, despite the left side strain that team physiotherapist David Beakley said would require "several weeks of rehabilitation".

Shakib was adjudged Man of the Match.

Australia had three spinners in their squad already with veteran tweaker Nathan Lyon and left-armer Ashton Agar getting the nod ahead of uncapped leggie Mitchell Swepson for the first Test.

"Obviously, it's a huge achievement and now we can say it's a historic one as you have said before that we are going to play against Australia after 11 years".

NWS issues excessive heat warning as heat wave ramps up
Forecasters warned that prolonged exposure to the high temperatures will increase the risk of heat related illnesses. On Tuesday, San Diego is forecasted to hit 91 degrees, which would break the previous August 29 record of 88.

Warner survived a review before bringing up his 19th Test century, a second in Asia, although he was eventually trapped by Shakib, who had Smith caught behind four overs later.

Australia was cruising towards the win before Warner's wicket and all of a sudden they were struggling to keep their wickets intact.

The day-four pitch ended up being relatively benign but the visitors still had no answers for the masterful Shakib, who time and again beat Australia's batsmen with turn and flight.

Along with Shakib, Tamim Iqbal was also great in both innings and it was the 50th test match for both Shakib and Tamim.

Interestingly, this was also one of the most thrilling Test matches in recent times irrespective of the teams participating in them. This was Bangladesh's first-ever Test victory against Australia.

Australian spinner Steve O'Keefe has been recalled in the national squad as a replacement for injured Josh Hazlewood for the second Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh, beginning September 4 in Chittagong. If the need arises Hazelwood will come out to bat in Australia's second innings but following that, he will fly back to his country. I hope we will get a wicket that will help us to win the series, ' he added.
