Agent says LB Ahmad Brooks to finalize deal with Packers

Packers Tuesday Training Camp Report: FINAL EDITION

Brooks has earned two second-team All-Pro selections (2012 and 2013) during his tenure with the 49ers, and he also made the Pro Bowl in 2013.

Nick Perry left during the first quarter of Saturday's game in Denver with an ankle injury, exacerbating the question marks the Packers have at outside linebacker depth.

That was the case again on Wednesday morning, as the Packers are set to sign former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks to a one-year deal that could be worth $5 million, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Brooks had 6.0 sacks for the 49ers past year, and their recent experience in keeping Peppers productive obviously makes them think they can use him. He can play the outside linebacker, he can play the elephant.

Brooks flew into Green Bay Monday. It wouldn't be surprising if he plays 500 or more snaps on defense in 2017, especially after the Packers lost Julius Peppers and Datone Jones - who combined for over 1,100 defensive snaps last season - in free agency.

When you hold the 12.2mm Ionic , it looks as chunky as an Android Wear watch, but much of that goes away when you strap it on. The device's more rounded contours apply more uniform pressure, allowing the sensors to get a better signal from the body.

Fourth-round draft pick and former Badger Vince Biegel remains on the PUP list after undergoing foot surgery to fix a Jones fracture in May.

The addition of Brooks should also allow the Packers to keep Biegel on the PUP list to start the regular season.

Jason Spriggs was a liability on both sides of the line while the likes of Kyle Murphy, Kofi Amichia, Justin McCray and company did little to nothing in generating any sort of hope that they could hold the fort in times of need.

It would be very surprising if a young draft pick like Fackrell was released at final cutdowns, but adding Brooks at least opens the door to that possibility, especially if the Packers like Gilbert's progress.
