Most Flights Take off on Schedule at Logan Airport Despite Hurricane

Hurricane Harvey is impacting flights at all three Valley airports. The FAA closed the airport to commercial traffic on Sunday, and all roads to and from the airport are also closed.

Flooding from once-Hurricane Harvey is crippling the Houston area, swallowing major roadways and homes.

Southwest Airlines did something similar yesterday, moving 500 passengers out of Houston's Hobby airport to Dallas. The airline had to get the flights done before sundown because the airport doesn't have full power, CNN said.

It's not like Southwest broke all the rules, however, as insiders say the carrier first received clearance from the FAA to fly out of the closed airport.

Houston Intercontinental is the 14th busiest airport in the U.S. with 20.1 million enplanements in 2016, FAA data shows.

Flight-tracking website said 1,664 flights were canceled as of midday Sunday as a result of the storm.

Cabrera and Romine were ejected, and Romine was so incensed by his dismissal that he threw his mask when he entered the dugout. So, it would not surprise the Yankees to see both of their catchers, Sanchez and Romine, suspended.

The airline received clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration to operate out of the closed airport, according to the two sources. However the airport was able to clear one of the runways, giving the pilots room to take off.

Most of those cancelled flights connected to areas where Harvey was hit, like Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

Before the rescue, Southwest released a statement about Houston's Hobby on its Twitter page.

Customers flying to any airport in the region during the next few days should check ahead on the status of their flights.

Even nationwide, Harvey could create sporadic disruptions.
