Update on Ric Flair following surgery

Flair rep Melinda Morris Zanoni said on Facebook that she can not answer personal questions on the illness.

After 5 days of silence, a rep for wrestling icon Ric Flair has finally updated fans on his condition, noting he's awake and talking but "there are complications".

As we noted earlier this weekend, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Flair had an external pacemaker put in place to help with his heart, and is now on kidney dialysis.

Zanoni added that Flair "cut a promo" on a nurse on Friday and considered that a good sign.

Media outlets including The New York Post and TMZ Sports have shared a Facebook post credited to Wendy Barlow, in which she says she took 68-year-old Flair to an Atlanta-area hospital Friday night with severe abdominal pain.

"From that moment on it all seems like a nightmare...multiple organ problems".

Flair has been receiving medical treatment for about a week now since Zanoni originally tweeted that her client had surgery. Flair's heavy drinking reportedly exacerbated his issues.

There haven't been many things to happen in recent memory that rocked WWE like Ric Flair's recent health scare. Later that day, she said he had surgery, and had a "long road ahead". "Guy has been struck by lightening and survived a plane crash, so let's not count him out one second".

Flair earned 16 world championships since the late 1970s, but became just as famous for his in-ring antics, including rule breaking, a cocky interview style, strutting and shouting the catchphrase "WOOOOO!"

The wrestling community has offered an outpouring of support for Flair who was rushed into care the weekend before tonight's show Summerslam.
