HBO Confirms Fourth Episode Of "Game Of Thrones" Has Leaked Online

Friday morning, several media outlets reported that Game of Thrones season 7 episode 4 has now been leaked online.

"This confirms the compromise of episode 4 of Game of Thrones Season 7, earlier this afternoon", a spokesperson said. A Star India spokesperson confirmed it to NDTV Gadgets 360.

They also stated that they are going to take this matter seriously and the perpetrators will face legal remedial actions. The hackers also leaked full episodes of HBO shows, including Ballers, Room 104 and Insecure.

An HBO representative confirmed to HuffPost that the recent leak is not part of the larger data breach of the network's servers.

HBO has reaped great benefits from the success of its series Game of Thrones, but that success has made it a target. The source of the leak, according to The Verge, is HBO's distribution partner, Star India, whose watermark appears on the leaked version of the episode. Somewhat ironically, the episode is titled The Spoils of War, which seems oddly fitting as its contents have been spoiled ahead of its television debut. It's unclear whether the leak came from Star World Premiere, the TV channel that telecasts Game of Thrones in India, or from Hotstar, Star's streaming service.

HBO released sent out an internal email to employees addressing the hack on Thursday. The hackers claimed to have obtained 1.5 terabytes of data from the company.

Two years ago, HBO went through a similar situation when the first four episodes of Game of Thrones season 5 leaked on torrent sites.

Days after reports that hackers had broken into HBO systems, the upcoming episode of the mega-popular fantasy show has shown up online.

News of the leaked episode bubbled up on internet forums yesterday, with at least one Reddit discussion linking to a Google Drive page.
