$447.8 million Powerball jackpot winning ticket sold in Riverside county

The winning ticket was sold at Marietta Liquor & Deli in southern California's Riverside County, about 80 miles (128.74 kilometers) south of Los Angeles, according to a release posted on the California Lottery's website.

The owner of a Southern California liquor store says he doesn't know who bought the winning $447.8 million Powerball ticket.

The store is just off a highway in an area originally developed as a retirement community.

"Starting out the year, it seemed like it was going to be the worst year in the world, and six months later, our store hit the Powerball".

"It's a very good feeling to be the winning store", Matthew Alberre told NBC News on Sunday, adding that they feel "blessed" for playing a role in the win.

In California, retailers receive a $1 million retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Gloria MacKenzie from Zephyrhills, Florida won the largest single jackpot in American lottery history, worth $590 million, in June 2013.

The winning numbers were 20-26-32-38-58, with a Powerball number 3.

The unnamed victor has a year to claim the jackpot.

The jackpot reached this size because no one had matched all the numbers since April 1. The cash prize would be $273.1 million.

The victor beat odds of one in 292.2 million, lottery officials said.
