Lordy! McCain Explains Senior Moment During Comey Hearing

Former FBI Director James Comey takes his seat after being sworn in during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C

Former FBI director James Comey said Thursday (June 8) he took the controversial decision to speak out publicly on the probe into Hillary Clinton's email previous year because he thought his boss, the attorney general, had become politically compromised.

When McCain's statement was released earlier in the day, the Diamondbacks responded with a shrug emoji.

According to McCain, he was up late on Wednesday night watching the Arizona Diamondbacks.

From Captain America aka Chris Evans to the "House of Cards", just about everyone was watching the Comey hearing on Capitol Hill Thursday morning. (We're not sure that that's the right description for where McCain's questions landed-"zoomed off in a clearly perpendicular direction" might be more accurate-but whatever.) McCain says he was attempting to draw a parallel between Comey's concerns about his meetings with Donald Trump, and an incident during the 2016 election in which he was seen to be overstepping his job description by putting forward an opinion on whether Clinton should be prosecuted for her lax internet security procedures. Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, of course, got in on the act.

The former 2008 Republican presidential nominee seemed to mesh the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's email server and the investigation into Russian meddling into one.

Dabrowski-Bopanna win mixed doubles title at French Open
Soon after the win, Twitter was flooded with congratulatory messages for Bopanna with tennis ace Sania Mirza leading the way. Dabrowski started off playing singles, but said she now focuses mostly on doubles as that's what "pays the bills".

Echoing the sentiment shared by us all, Comey then replied simply by saying, "I'm a little confused".

But several of his questions confused viewers, and seemingly Comey himself, and he occasionally was incoherent. "Yet at the same time, in the case of Mr. [Trump], you said that there was not enough information to make a conclusion".

During the hearing, McCain seemed to indicate that the two investigations were connected, despite James Comey insisting they were not.

During the first part of his special participation, McCain compared the Clinton probe to the Russian interference investigation. McCain wrote. "I wanted Mr. Comey to apply the same approach to the key question surrounding his interactions with President Trump-whether or not the President's conduct constitutes obstruction of justice". Turning more serious, McCain said, "while I missed an opportunity in today's hearing, I still believe this question is important, and I intend to submit it in writing to Mr. Comey for the record".

Mr Comey said he was concerned Ms Lynch was seeking to align the Justice Department with wording that Mrs Clinton's camp was using.
