'March for Truth' demands independent investigation into Trump's possible Russia ties

Hundreds of people marched Saturday through lower Manhattan to demand an impartial investigation into alleged Russian interference in the presidential election.

The "Pittsburgh, Not Paris" event is meant to celebrate President Trump fulfilling his campaign promise, and stand in solidarity with the president.

"We gotta keep up the fight, that's all there is to it", said Jon Lovett, a former President Obama speechwriter who spoke at the rally in Washington, D.C.

The protests come ahead of testimony by former Federal Bureau of Investigation director, James Comey to the Senate Intelligence Committee scheduled for June 8th.

"That firing was abrupt, what are you covering up?" another chant went.

"The mood from the crowd is energized and empowered", Iannuzzi said. She also drove to nation's capital for the Women's March, Tax March and Climate March. Critics quickly noted the voters of Pittsburgh supported Trump's rival, Hillary Clinton, by a large margin. He said he'd do the same if Obama was still in office.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell applauded the protesters from the back of a red pickup truck in Bedminster Township where an effigy to Trump was covered by an American flag.

Christi Branch, a resident of Waynesboro, Virginia, said she drove three hours to Washington to support the President.

Putin urges 'joint work' with Trump on climate
Ambassador Sergey Kislyak's meetings with members of Trump's team have been a focus of the congressional investigation. Putin added that US participation is essential for the success of global efforts.

The crowd gathered to celebrate the President's decision to withdraw the USA from the Paris Climate Agreement. "To say they are not transparent isn't even beginning to characterize it".

March for Truth organizers, however, are adamant that they're ready to fight the current administration on multiple fronts, including health care, immigration and the environment, but that the pressure needs to remain on the Russian Federation investigations. "Donald Trump has a staff infection and it's spreading everyday".

While some came to praise, others came to protest the President.

Public advocate Tish James welcomed Trump's supporter, who James refers to as "Agent Orange".

Outside the White House, a Pittsburgh pro-Trump march didn't draw the numbers of the nationwide event.

They came as Nikki Haley, the USA ambassador to the United Nations, ended days of confusion to make clear that "President Trump believes the climate is changing" and that man-made pollutants are partly responsible.

Many protesters called for Trump's impeachment for his attempts to thwart an investigation into a possible Russian plot to influence last November's election.

"The fact that this man could be president for four years scares me to death", he said.
