Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn's resigned as National Security Adviser on February 13.

Senator Richard Burr, the Republican committee chairman, and Senator Mark Warner, the Democratic vice chairman, announced on Wednesday they had issued a subpoena to Flynn.

Asked again late last month in a CBS News interview whether he believes Russian Federation tried to interfere in the election, Trump said "I don't know..."

In March, the committee rejected Flynn's request for immunity if he testified before the committee. Flynn has reportedly offered to testify in the probe into ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation in exchange for immunity from prosecution.

Earlier this week CNN reported that grand jury subpoenas were issued to several of Flynn's business associates.

Because cases have dramatically dropped in recent months, however, officials have finally declared an end to the threat. And after it was declared a national emergency in Brazil , it was pretty much across every single newspaper front page.

Gen Flynn was forced to resign in February as Trump's national security adviser for failing to disclose the content of his talks with Mr Sergey Kislyak, Russia's ambassador to the U.S., and then misleading Vice-President Mike Pence about the conversations.

During the hearing, Senator Heinrich questioned Acting FBI Director McCabe on whether former FBI Director James Comey had lost the confidence of the rank-and-file agents at the FBI.

The retired Army lieutenant general is also being investigated by other congressional committees and by the Pentagon's inspector general regarding his contacts and earnings from organisations linked to the Russian and Turkish governments.

"Out of respect for the Committees, we will not comment right now on the details of discussions between counsel for General Flynn and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, other than to confirm that those discussions have taken place".

"He didn't turn those documents over, so we have subpoenaed those documents", Lankford said.
