ECU football coach surprised a players mother with a full scholarship

And since Kiante is always talking about how much he loves his mother, and how much he respects the sacrifices she has made for him, coach Montgomery chose to deliver the scholarship papers to her as a Mother's Day present. However, this year the East Carolina Pirates are putting a new spin on this tradition.

On Thursday, ECU coach Scottie Montgomery put his own twist on that surprise moment, instead taking a letter saying that DE Kiante Anderson will be on scholarship for his senior season this fall to his mother, Tia Chapman.

Montgomery visited Chapman at an elementary school where she works.

"I just made a decision to show up today". "He speaks so highly of her, talks about her sacrifices, and he's earned it on and off the field".
