The party's decision to appoint Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann as the Punjab unit president has not gone down well with other leaders, including Sukhpal Khaira who resigned as the chief whip and party spokesperson.

In another setback to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), its former Punjab convener Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi has quit the party.

The Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann recently showed his rage against the poor leadership skills of the AAP party and blamed the party itself for its defeat in Punjab Assembly Elections.

According to the Times Of India, He said: "I'm resigning from the primary membership with a heavy heart".

Arvind Kejriwal has claimed that he has appointed Mann as state convener after meeting each Punjab MLA individually. Ghuggi, who is the former Punjab convener of the AAP, said that he would stay in politics but not be associated with the AAP.

He lashed out at AAP national leaders for not taking Punjab leaders into confidence while taking major decisions. I held party reins during the crisis, sacrificing my work.

Mann said that the volunteers were the backbone of the party, but added that anti-party activities would not be tolerated. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Khaira said he would not "run away from the task" if he was entrusted with the position of Convenor of the state unit of the party. He said he would reach out to those upset with decisions, including his appointment.
