Cris Carter has words of encouragement for new Vikings WR Michael Floyd

Floyd was a prep star in Minnesota, giving him the opportunity to get his life back on track in a familiar place. Floyd finished the year with the Patriots, playing in two regular-season games and earning a Super Bowl ring, but is serving his sentence in Arizona and won't be able to leave the state until the conclusion of National Football League minicamps in June.

In February, a couple weeks after the Super Bowl, Floyd was sentenced to 24 days in jail and three-plus months on home arrest for the DWI, his second conviction.

He is now on house arrest, but wide receiver Michael Floyd is ready to contribute in 2017 after signing Wednesday with the Minnesota Vikings.

After his mercenary stint with the Patriots (and the legal system), Floyd was an unrestricted free agent.

So if the 27-year-old receiver catches on to the Vikings' offense and gains the trust of his new quarterback, Floyd could have a permanent role on the outside that would allow Diggs and Thielen to line up all over the field. "We have offered Michael the full support and assistance of the Minnesota Vikings organization ..." There's also 2016 first-round draft pick Laquon Treadwell coming off a quiet rookie year.

S&P 500 and Nasdaq Open Above Closing Records in Low-Volatility Trading
Since Donald Trump's election in November the S&P 500 has risen almost 14 per cent, raising questions about market valuations. It was the third straight day that the Nasdaq notched an all-time high, but each of those has been by only a marginal amount.

"For the last 10 years or so, they've been looking for that big guy", Carter said.

Released by the Cardinals two days later, Floyd eventually signed with the Patriots and played in two regular-season games with one touchdown catch.

"Coach (Mike) Zimmer and I are confident Michael Floyd has learned and grown from his past decisions".

Cretin-Derham Hall compiled a 13-1 record and appearance in the state championship game during Floyd's senior year. Floyd was charged with 7 counts, including extreme DUI and failure to obey a police officer.
