Waze now lets you use your own voice for navigation instructions

In the latest update to the app, Waze has finally introduced a voice recorder feature. And, it looks like I've just got a chance to prove myself with Waze.

In addition to the stock voices and handful of celebrity voices the Waze navigation app offers - such as Morgan Freeman and Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen - it will now let you record your own voice for navigation directions. To enable this, you need to go to Settings Sound & voice Voice Commands, after which you find an option to record custom voice for navigation.

When you switch it on, you must record all 39 phrases Waze uses when directing users.

Cinco de Mayo in Trump era leaves Mexican-Americans torn
Many non-Mexicans are guilty of this on May 5, knocking back margaritas but totally oblivious to what they're even celebrating. Donald Trump's election has bred some uncertainty and fear amongst some people of Mexican heritage in the United States.

However, this new feature of Waze comes with a major drawback. You'll lose details such as street names, but you'll gain the satisfaction of hearing your navigation app say "turn left here, ".

While there is of course potential for pranks and practical jokes here, let's just assume for now that people will use this feature properly. In the past there's been everyone from T-Pain to Mr. T, but now the Waze navigation voice can be you, yes you. This feature is now available in Waze Android app and it's still not sure when it will be ported to iOS.

Meanwhile, Waze recommends that you use clear and intelligible voices to ensure that you avoid any mishaps while out on the roads.
