But police on Monday said they had tied Saucedo to nine killings in all - eight random victims and one man that he knew.

Saucedo was arrested in April in connection with the shooting death of 61-year-old Raul Romero, who was the boyfriend of Saucedo's mother and held on $750,000 bail.

Smith said she had grown frustrated over the past year as detectives kept her in the dark about the investigation.

During Monday's announcement that police had arrested Aaron Saucedo for the 2016 Serial Street Shootings, Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams added three shootings to the case.

The city's fear peaked because most of the killings came in a cluster, with seven people slain in a two-and-a-half-month period last spring.

Saucedo was being held on first-degree murder charges in Romero's death when police announced new charges in the serial street shootings case. Castro-Garcia, 19, was fatally shot on June 10, 2016.

Most of the attacks took place between 2015 and July of 2016 in a predominantly Latino neighbourhood of the Arizona city.

Police said Monday they have arrested the gunman who terrorized Phoenix for months a year ago, killing nine people in seemingly random shootings.

Turris' OT goal gives Senators 3-2 series lead over Rangers
In the postseason, however, each game in a series is like a miniseries, and the Rangers have a bit of a track record to lean on. For whatever reason, the Rangers just don't seem to have that killer instinct when they have an opportunity to bury a team.

Police arrested Saucdeo in that case after finding a pistol he'd sold at a pawn shop and matching it to evidence found at the crime scene, court documents said.

Another series of shootings past year put Phoenix on edge, but Williams said there's no evidence to connect Saucedo to the I-10 Freeway Shootings. Records show Saucedo was pulled over for allegedly running a red light on October 27, 2015, just a month after the first killing.

"When they showed me the picture, I did get a little chills", he said.

On Monday, Saucedo was technically re-arrested and booked at jail in a move by authorities that signaled they plan to charge him with eight other slayings that occurred in Phoenix, bringing to nine the total number of killings investigators have linked to him, Williams said.

Police say Saucedo shot at two teenage boys on March 17, 2016, striking one of them in the arm.

Jesse Olivas, 22, was shot dead on the street on January 1, 2016.

Some residents were apathetic at first but many got involved as the shootings continued, she said.
