Champions Trophy 2017

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in their Special General Meeting (SGM) on Sunday, May 7, made a decision to send the India cricket team for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2017, which starts from June 1 at the Oval, London.

There were serious concerns over reigning champions India's participation in the ICC event after BCCI was unhappy with the new revenue model of the ICC, which would see the Indian board receive less revenue.

"The Board unanimously authorised the acting Hony". He is believed to be peeved over the women's team selection meeting being convened without his knowledge by BCCI CEO Rahul Johri.

Meanwhile, the Indian team for the Champions Trophy ia expected to be picked on May 8. While the BCCI says it's all unfair, it does not say what calculation the figure it had proposed under previous ICC president N Srinivasan's "Big Three" formulation - $570 million.

Even though Srinivasan was earlier keen on a pullout, he refrained from speaking about it after gauging the general mood.

Russia: Syrian safe zones plan to take effect at midnight
Aleppo, a former anti-government stronghold, had been under siege for months until it fell to Syrian forces in December. The UN has also been proactively supporting discussions in Astana regarding detainees and humanitarian demining.

On hearing the demands of the state bodies, the CoA asked the state association members to go back to the SGM and take a fresh call on how they would manage to implement the Lodha reforms. The standoff continued further when the revenue model was revised and the BCCI again rejected the ICC's proposal of an additional 100 million, at where the original is 293 million.

Diana Edulji, a member of the Supreme Court-mandated BCCI's Committee of Administrators, was among those present at the jersey launch along with two of the Board's General Managers - Prof. The Associate Members will receive a funding of 280 million dollars.

The point 13 of the letter stated COA would support any decision "which protects the interests of Indian cricket as a whole". "The members were told that if they had any problem with the finance bit, they would have to take up the matter at the ICC's governance level", a state association member, who attended the meeting, said.

BCCI's current joint secretary, Amitabh Choudhary, has been given the task of cracking a deal with the ICC on its behalf while keeping the legal options open.
