Police Department is investigating a crash involving a school bus

At least one person died and 16 children were hospitalized after a crash involving a school bus and another vehicle in northeast Las Vegas on Thursday, May 4, 2017. One student was airlifted for medical treatment and five others were taken from the accident scene in an ambulance.

School bus No. 25 landed on its side in a ditch on Irvine Avenue and Movil Lake Road north of Bemidji, according to a statement from Bemidji Public School Superintendent Jim Hess. The driver of the vehicle who struck the bus was also transported by ground ambulance and is in serious condition at Sanford Hospital.

Both of the drivers involved in a school bus crash that sent multiple students to the hospital have been identified.

The crash near Nellis Boulevard and East Carey Avenue between a Clark County School District bus bound for Bailey Middle School and a white sedan occurred about 8:30 a.m., Metro officer Jacinto Rivera said.

He says that school buses are the safest way to get your children to and from school.
