Edward Crawford, the man in an iconic photo from the Ferguson protests has died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Police said he died of a gunshot wound and the case has yet to be solved.

"I don't believe it was a suicide", Edward Sr. told the St. Lois Post-Dispatch.

Crawford was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. "He loved (his children) to death". The medical examiner hasn't issued an official cause of death pending an autopsy. Crawford Jr. lived in 7000 block of Dover Street in University City. St. Louis police said Crawford had been complaining of distress to two women seated in the auto, where he suddenly shot himself.

He was with two women in the vehicle at the time. As the vehicle was driving through the city's Hyde Park neighborhood the gun went off.

"I didn't throw a burning can back at police", said Crawford.

Crawford's father, 52, said he does not believe his son intentionally shot and killed himself. "[The investigators], they're being hush-hush".

Edward Crawford stepped forward as the photo's subject as it began circulating around the world.

Federal Reserve leaves key policy rate unchanged
Clouding the economic outlook is tepid so-called "hard data" that, at times, contrast sharply with sentiment surveys. That assumes, of course, that Trump can get all or most of his tax cuts and spending plans through Congress.

While police are investigating whether the victim shot himself on goal or by accident, Edward Sr. does not believe that his son was suicidal, telling the Post-Dispatch that just two days ago, his son was in "good spirits".

"He was wonderful, great, always in a good mood", he told the newspaper, adding that he last saw his son two days earlier. "He just got a new apartment and was training for a new job".

Why would Crawford, father of four, who, according to his family, appeared to be in high spirits after getting a new job, just kill himself in his auto?

"I didn't throw a burning can back at police", Crawford told the Post-Dispatch in a story that ran August 26. The photo taken by the Post-Dispatch won a Pulitzer Prize for breaking news photography in 2015.

In 2014, an unarmed African-American teenager by the name of Michael Brown had been shot dead by police officer, Darren Wilson. He told the Post-Dispatch that throwing the canister wasn't an act of rebellion, but an instinct. There had been a court date set for later this month, for those citations.

After learning of his death Friday morning, Missouri Sen.

"He is #Ferguson's hero", the senator wrote on her Twitter account. "He threw burning tear gas away from children". "We are gonna stand here and not be invisible".
