Nick Kent, the documentary's executive producer from Oxford Film and Television which is making the programme, said: "This film will show Princess Diana in a way she has never been seen before, through the eyes of the two people who knew her best".

Included in the documentary will be new archival materials along with reflections from friends and family, some of whom have never spoken publicly.

The film will be produced by Oxford Film and Television for ITV, which previously produced feature-length documentary "Our Queen at Ninety", which aired as part of channel's 90th birthday celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II in May 2016.

Both the princes were actively engaged in humanitarian work and HBO's documentary will talk about their mother's contribution to public life, along with her work in the charitable and humanitarian sector.
