Mass. Unemployment Rate Ticks Up To 3.6 Percent; State Adds 200 Jobs

On the year: The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped five-tenths of a percentage point from 4.1 percent in March 2016.

What's more, the unemployment rate fell even as the county's labor force grew by 15,000 to 5,082,000, thanks to the fact that 24,000 more county residents reported they were working in March than had reported in February.

Employers across the state have opened up about 60,600 more jobs since March 2016.

That pulled the unemployment rate down from 4% in February to 3.8% last month.

In Clarendon County, the unemployment rate was 6.2 percent in February, as compared to 5.4 percent in March.

North Carolina's jobless rate dropped in March to 4.9 percent, largely driven by a surge in government hiring.

The national unemployment rate also dropped last month. Employment in professional and business services increased 2,000.

Annual job growth in March stood at about 1 percent, however, slower than in February.

Reid back but Carroll out as West Ham prepare for Everton visit
Ross Barkley's inconsistency this season is known all too well by those that follow Everton at and away from Goodison. Only Lionel Messi, with 17 goals, has scored more often in the top five European leagues than Lukaku in 2017.

The local figure compares to a rate of 5.1 percent for California and 4.6 percent nationwide. Trade, Transportation and Utility added 300.

The household survey shows 111,111 more people employed in the past year, an increase of 2.4 percent.

The county rate of 3.3 percent was the second-lowest level in nearly a decade.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, Kansas gained 1,400 nonfarm jobs during the month, but only about 500 of those were in the private sector.

The highest rate of joblessness in northwest Kansas was in Graham County, 4.2 percent. Scott's office said Tampa Bay had 44,544 job openings, the highest number in the state. Together, the remaining Metropolitan Statistical Areas saw an increase of 1,000 jobs: Coeur d'Alene, up 2.6 percent; Idaho Falls, up 2.7 percent; and Lewiston, up 1.3 percent.

In addition, February's job growth was revised down to show an increase of 14,800 jobs rather than a gain of 25,600 jobs as was initially reported when that month's preliminary data were released. The largest volume gain was in professional & business services (+3,600).

Economists who study SC have said that the more modest pace is likely the outcome of worker shortages in some sectors as the state's labor market tightens.

Boulder County had 181,775 people employed, with 3,764 looking for work, according to the report.
