Tax Day demonstrators to demand Trump release his taxes

Tax Day marches are scheduled in three North Carolina cities to protest President Donald Trump refusing to release his tax returns.

The organizers of Saturday's marches say there are more than 180 planned across 48 states and the District of Columbia.

"Donald Trump absolutely needs to release his tax returns". "We march because it is in the best interest of the American people to know what financial entanglements and conflicts of interest our leaders have".

"We do care. We want to see his taxes", said Ann Demerlis, who was among hundreds who marched in Philadelphia from City Hall to an area in front of historic Independence Hall, carrying signs and chanting "We want your taxes now!"

Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters, of California, spoke at a rally at the U.S. Capitol on Saturday before protesters began marching toward the National Mall. The CBS News Poll last asked about this in 2015 and almost six in 10 said the amount of federal income taxes they paid was about right, but 55 percent thought corporations paid less than their fair share.

As the April 18 tax deadline approaches, the majority of the public - 56% - thinks the federal tax system is unfair, according to a study from Pew Research Center, a nonprofit think tank in Washington, D.C. That includes 54% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents who described the tax system as "not too fair" or "not at all fair", up from 43% two years ago.

Knicks exec Jackson says Anthony better off elsewhere
The Knicks seem to be pushing Anthony to waive his no-trade clause by presenting a better option to chase a title. Anthony holds a no-trade clause, meaning he can approve or shoot down any potential trades.

"At the end of the day this march is about the American people and about making sure that everyone has a fair chance", he said. A day after the massive January 21 women's march in Washington and other cities, comedy writer Frank Lesser tapped out on Twitter, "Trump claims no one cares about his taxes". And a petition demanding that Trump release his returns has garnered more than 1 million signatures.

There is no way that one can tell how many people are going to attend the protests.

Trump's aide, Kellyanne Conway, raised new questions over the issue when she stated in January that the president would not release his tax returns, a disclosure of financial information made by every president for almost 40 years and one that advocates and voters believe is important to guard against possible corruption.

Mike Litterst, a spokesman for the Park Service, said the Tax March and the Science March the following weekend are among the largest protests the agency is expecting this spring in Washington. Trump said he was being audited by the IRS, but the tax agency said that wouldn't prevent him from releasing the documents.

Joe Dinkin, spokesman for the Working Families Party, one of the groups organizing the marches, said investigations into the Trump campaign's alleged connections to Russian Federation underscore the need to disclose his returns.

The Tax March also has an unofficial mascot, the "Trump Chicken".
