Britain blames Russian Federation for 'every civilian death' in Syria chemical attack

Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon has demanded Russian Federation rein in Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, claiming that Moscow is "responsible for every civilian death" in last week's chemical weapons attack on Khan Sheikhun.

Moscow has sought to deflect blame from its long-time ally Assad over the suspected gas incident and says Syrian jets struck a rebel arms depot where "toxic substances" were being put inside bombs.

President Trump's national security adviser on Sunday left open the possibility of additional USA military action against Syria after last week's missile strike but indicated that the United States was not seeking to act unilaterally to oust Syrian President Bashar Assad. Both countries belong to the USA -led coalition fighting ISIL militants in Syria.

A number of other global leaders also have responded to the USA show of force. "Clearly they've been incompetent and perhaps they've just simply been out-maneuvered by the Syrians". More than 70 people died in the attack, while potentially hundreds more were injured.

Graham also argued Sunday that the United States is "relying too much" on the Kurds in that region to defeat ISIS and that additional USA troops would attract more regional fighters in that effort.

"We're hopeful that we can prevent a continuation of the civil war and that we can bring the parties to the table to begin the process of political discussions" between the Assad government and various rebel groups.

In the interview with CNN, Haley said peace in Syria was impossible with Assad in power. "From now on we will respond with force to any aggressor or any breach of red lines from whoever it is and America knows our ability to respond".

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not leave the field.in the face of threats", Khamenei warned.

The U.K. defense secretary of state also provided a solution to the Syrian problem saying: "It's time for Russian Federation to be part of the solution and engage constructively with the UN-mediated peace talks. We understand that the latest action taken by the United States was a measure meant to prevent the further worsening of the situation". Damascus refers to all Syrian opposition groups as "terrorists".

"Finally, after six years, President Trump made a real red line to Bashar al-Assad", Mostafa Hassoun, who has lived in the USA since 2015, said Saturday.

"The Syrian people and army are determined to crush terrorism in every part of Syrian territory".

The Kremlin said Russian President Vladimir Putin and Rohani condemned "aggressive" USA actions against Syria in a phone call.

Lavrov said he supported a "thorough and impartial" investigation.

The British have "no real influence on the course of worldwide affairs, remaining "in the shadow" of their strategic partners", it added.

Johnson on Saturday cancelled a scheduled visit to Moscow over its support for the Syrian regime.

And on Sunday, British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon accused Russian Federation of being responsible "by proxy" for deaths in the suspected chemical attack.
