Pruitt has voiced objection to the EPA's Accidental Release Prevention Requirements in the past, writing a letter in 2016 while he was Oklahoma Attorney General to then EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy urging her to rethink course on the rule. That association represents air regulators in 40 states, the District of Columbia and over 100 metropolitan areas.
Utilities, including UWAG, took EPA to court to have the rule overturned.
In March though, a group of fossil fuel groups including the American Chemistry Council, American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufactures and American Petroleum institute sued the EPA to petition a review of the final rule, arguing in the suit it is "unlawful, arbitrary, capricious, an abuse of discretion, and not otherwise in accordance with law". The county probably couldn't withstand a sudden death of the industry, she said, but added that she is seriously concerned about climate change and believes coal companies must be held accountable for the environmental damage they cause.
While the EPA isn't required until later this year to identify which regions of the US meet the standards and which don't, the Obama-era ozone standards are already factored into Clean Air Act permits granted to industrial facilities. In a Federal Register notice filed this week, the EPA said "justice requires" it to stay the regulation's current deadlines "in light of the capital expenditures that facilities incurring costs under the Rule will need to undertake in order to meet the compliance deadlines for the new, more stringent limitations and standards in the rule".
"That will continue regardless of what's going on in a rulemaking", Berge told Bloomberg BNA.
Hillary Clinton responds to Syria strike
As secretary of state under president Barack Obama, Clinton had advocated a more muscular approach (paywall) to Syria and other conflicts in the Middle East, including establishing a no-fly zone in Syria.
A new EPA budget proposal, obtained by the Washington Post, calls for 10 new full-time security personnel to staff a round-the-clock detail for EPA administrator Scott Pruitt-an unprecedented level of protection for his position.
"There's been a change of direction at the EPA, and I think that is what is prompting these kinds of stories", said Pruitt.
Launched the EPA Regulatory Reform Task Force to undergo extensive reviews of the misaligned regulatory actions. However, he can start a process to end the United States' involvement in it.
According to E.E. News, former EPA head Gina McCarthy's security detail normally consisted of six to eight personnel who assisted only during global travel and public appearances. "Almost 140 million live in areas non-compliant with respect to air quality". The pitchforks were aimed and ready to eliminate Obamacare, until many citizens realized that it was not only "undeserving" folks who could lose affordable health care, but that they, too, risked losing their prized ease of access to doctors and cost-effective prescription drugs.
