The film is one of three Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in 2017, with "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2" and "Spider-Man: Homecoming" also being released this year. They're not bad, but they lack personality and the fun of the rest of the MCU.
It has been quite some time since Marvel released a genuine solo movie, and Thor: Ragnarok will not break that trend. It's very different, nearly entirely in good ways.
Here are five things that got us geeking out after watching the trailer.
"Thor Ragnarok" is the third film in the series following the highly successful 2011, "Thor" and its sequel "Thor: The Dark World". Thor is taken to the planet Sakaar, which is ruled by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).The teaser also unveils Tessa Thompson's character Valkyrie who is seen dragging Thor. Yeah, if you could not help laughing at Thor's reaction when the Hulk lands, we do not blame you, we did the same!

Taika Waititi, the New Zealand filmmaker behind the acclaimed indies Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows, is in the director's seat for Ragnarok. Cinematography will be by Javier Aguirresarobe, while the score comes to us courtesy of Mark Mothersbaugh. Guardians looks like more of the same, which is good, but not surprising. Closer in spirit to something like Guardians of the Galaxy than Thor or Thor: The Dark World, it's nearly building towards a romp.
Soon after losing his hammer, he seems to have been thrown out from his own kingdom. This movie won't suddenly become an awards player beyond where the MCU normally contends, but it marks another bold tinker for a company that nearly always hits their marks. The role of the Goddess of Death is a big change for her and she expressed how she was excited to get in shape just for the role. "Thor: "Ragnarok". Love you Cate". With the addition of the humor that Thor brings in the ring, it looks like Thor: Ragnarok will be offering fans an entirely new look at the hammer-wielding god and his life beyond his time with the Avengers. Now that its new formula proved successful, expect more Marvel properties to feel similar-starting with Thor: Ragnarok.
